THE ONE THING NECESSARY
Leadership seminars. Social outreach projects. Work camps. Sports. Academics. Kapuluan fellows may seem to do a lot of things, but in fact they have their eyes glued to one source: Jesus, perfect God and perfect Man.
The Center not only stresses on the human formation of the students but also on their spiritual formation. As such, every activity in the Center is punctuated with norms of piety which are acts of love that give the activities greater meaning by relating them to God. Among these activities are:
Basic Courses & Doctrine Classes. These are weekly classes to equip the fellows on the meaning of their faith, helping them to understand it with more depth.
Circles. These are advanced classes that touch on various topics concerning the human, professional, doctrinal, apostolic and spiritual formation of the fellows who have finished their basic Christian doctrine classes.
Weekly Meditations, Monthly Recollections, and Yearly Retreats. These are moments of silence spent on praying and doing some Christian acts of piety to foster conversation with God that will hopefully be sustained even when the person is alone.
Sacramental Life. Holy Mass, frequent Confession, Benedictions, Vigils. The chaplain of the Center makes himself available for the fellows to deepen their sacramental life.
Novena to the Immaculate Conception. Nine days before December 8, we “invent” ways to show our love for Our Lady.
Chat & Spiritual Direction. Those who want to go deeper in their formation can avail of spiritual direction offered by the chaplain and the staff of the Center. In this way, the formation is “customized” according to the needs of each person. The doctrinal and spiritual activities of the Center are entrusted to Opus Dei, a Personal Prelature of the Catholic Church, founded by St. Josemaria Escriva. Opus Dei helps ordinary lay people seek holiness in and through their work and everyday activities. Kapuluan welcomes persons of all faiths in keeping with the spirit of openness which characterizes Opus Dei.
