One of the most-awaited events for families of Kapuluan fellows is when they come to celebrate with us and feel part of the one big Kapuluan family. Many families come every year and share with us new stories and happenings. It is also a good moment for families of new fellows to see the Center.
There are three major family events spread throughout the year: the Family Day during the first semester, the Christmas Triduum in December, and the Graduation Celebration in April.
During the Family day, families of the fellows come to the Center for Holy Mass, a film, a short program and a potluck dinner, where each family brings something to share with everyone.
The Christmas Triduum, meanwhile, is a three-day preparation for Christmas held in the Center where families join us for prayer and thanksgiving. It is during this time that families are reminded of the true meaning of Christmas, experiencing it as a family. Recently, Pope Benedict XVI issued a decree granting indulgences to families of Opus Dei members who attend the Triduum, given the usual conditions.
The Graduation Celebration, on the other hand, is a congratulatory event for the parents and the family of fellows graduating that year. A meditation given to the graduates also prepares them for professional life, hoping that they will continue their formation in their new environment.
In all the events, the Kapuluan director delivers his customary “Director’s Report” which features, among others, the recent and upcoming events in the Center.
All these activities aim for the families to be closer to one another and helping one another to walk along God’s path. Truly, the family that prays together stays together.
