Sharing the Faith: Visits to the Poor and Sick

Besides excelling in academics and doing well in their respective organizations, the students who frequent the center are also taught to share their time with others particularly to those materially destitute or those who are physically ill and lonely in the hospital.
At least once a month, they go out to poor places such as the marginalized areas in Philcoa, Cubao, near Sto. Domingo, and across Philippine Science High School, to name a few. They spend twenty to thirty minutes talking to them and asking them about their condition in life, sharing their concerns and sometimes—because some poor people need very little in life and are contented with what they have—laughing with them and celebrating the many little blessings they realize they have.

Alternatively, the fellows go to hospitals such as the East Avenue Medical Center and V. Luna Hospital and proceed to the wards where some patients are confined for months. The guys try to cheer up the sick especially those who do not have company.

The visits to the poor and sick are not meant to solve a social problem, but to provide a venue for students—with their cheerfulness, prayers and pasalubong—to share their time to touch the lives of other people and share their faith, even for just a few moments.
